President's Message

Greetings,

Last month we had a speaker who is a volunteer at the county historical society.  He used his interest in history of the area and his talent for sleuthing out the facts to discover the history of a rock found along a road near Brownsville.  He shared his journey and findings with us.  It was a most entertaining history lesson!

Volunteers, whether they are at the historical society, local church, StreetScapes, Lions, Rotary or one of the many other community volunteer groups, come with a variety of interests, skills and talents.  I think we often say to ourselves that we could never do what we see someone else doing.  That may or may not be true, but we have a talent unique to ourselves.  It's like a jigsaw puzzle.  It takes all the pieces that are all a little different, to make a complete picture.  I think that's why Rotary originally asked people (actually just men at that time) to join who came from a variety of professions and backgrounds; hence the classification system.  Though Rotary doesn't emphasize that anymore, it's still helpful to have members with a variety of skills and interests.  It takes all of us working together to achieve our goals.

In Rotary Service,
Naomi

Grant Management Seminar On Zoom

The annual Grant Management Seminar will occur on Wednesday, February 12th from 6:30- 8:00 pm on Zoom. Any Rotarian in D6250 that is interested in learning about District Grants and Global Grants is encouraged to attend. There will be content relevant to your experience level whether you are brand new to the grant process or have led grant projects in the past.

Please note that as part of Grant Qualification for clubs in D6250, each club that wants to lead a District Grant or Global Grant (host or sponsor club) in RY2025-26 is required to send at least one person to the Grant Management Seminar. If your club cannot find someone to attend, then you can do the Grant Management Module on The Learning Center and send the certificate of completion to District Rotary Foundation Chair Erin Luken. The Learning Center mostly covers Global Grants, though, and does not have district-specific information related to District Grants.

Please sign up via the event on our district calendar: Grant Management Seminar.
Upon signing up you will receive the Zoom link. Course materials will be provided both before and after the seminar. All attendees are encouraged (but not required) to complete the Grant Management Seminar at The Learning Center at their own convenience. You can access the module by logging into MyRotary, clicking on The Learning Center, and searching Grant Management in the search bar.
